Ihave owned a Mazda 6 2ltr diesel (143) since 2010 and have issues with the dpf light and all the issues that go with it. I have had it to various garages (including my local Mazda dealer) and the problem always reappears after a certain amount of time. I am now coming to the conclusion that it is not the dpf but a faulty egr valve.
Iam the owner of a 2010 Mazda 6 2nd Generation 2.2 MZR CD 125. I have a problem with the engine. there is a fairly loud knocking noise (see video) that has appeared. I have no power loss. All- I have just got my car back from the local Mazda garage; they have fixed my problem. It was the build up of carbon on the exhaust gas recycling inlet valve. A strip down and thorough clean and it is now running fine. Good old Mazda has stood the whole cost of the work today to clean the valve. I asked if the same problem could develop

MazdaDPF's are not known for failing any more than any other diesel car-. BUT - there are a number of 2.2 diesels that were fitted with poor quality injector nozzles which caused the DPF to regen excessively ( mine was one), usually either side of the 50k mileage or 80k km, regardless of model, just the 2.2d engine.

DPFregeneration depends on how much "load" (i.e. fuel consumption) the engine normally works at.It does not depend on high/low rpm dirving habit.For example, in my experince: highway trips, 130-160 km/h, engine works at 2.200 - 2.600, 6th gear, average fuel consumption is 6-7 L/100KM, engine load is quite "serious" and DPF regeneration W80r.
