A subscriber asked me to review the factory KTM Panniers (Saddlebags). These bags came stock on my 2016 KTM 1290 Super Adventure and fit all Super Adventure Location: New York City. So, here are the steps, overall: Strip down bike, remove valve covers. Rotate rear cylinder to TDC, and measure clearances. Rotate front cylinder to TDC, and measure clearances. Adjust if necessary. Things I've noticed KTM has changed which make my jor easier than on the 950:
In addition to the suspension, the R runs different size wheels. The standard has a 19" front and 17" rear where the R has a 21" front and 18" rear. The difference in wheel size also has, I feel, a significant impact in its off-road ability (as well as its height). I feel, in general, the R is a significant boost in off-road prowess, but that's
I really liked krussell's thread comparing the 1090R and 1290R, so I thought I'd start an equivalent thread for their road-oriented counterparts. First let me say I cannot hold a candle to krussell's commitment to the cause: I haven't bought both bikes just to compare them.
The KTM 1190 Adventure is a well-equipped bike, but for an additional $5,000 or so, the BMW stacked the deck with a larger fuel tank, semi-active suspension, cruise control and shaft final drive

IF, we are talking the 1260 S Ducati twin vs the 1290 Super Adventure S the Duc is rated at 150 hp vs the 160 hp of the SDS. The Duke is reported to have 96 lb/ft of torque vs the 100 + of the KTM.

Or ktm guys who says 950 is a lot better then 1190 with all means . This list goes like this some of them finds non abs brakes are far more better then abs .carburettors better then electronic ignitions.
The 1090 only feels top heavy when you are pushing it around. Once rolling the 1090 drops a lot of weight. I haven't looked this up, but the 1090/1190 feels like the steering is much quicker than the 950/990 ADV's. It feels similar to the changes KTM did between the older slow handling 530 EXC and the 2012 500 EXC.
CW compares the BMW S1000XR, Ducati Multistrada 1200S, Kawasaki Versys 1000LT, and KTM 1290 Super Adventure. Who wins? Read the story and find out at CycleWorld.com.

The guy rode a 1090 and 1290 back to back and his thoughts seem to mirror yours. Yes the 1290 was an absolute blast, but he liked the 1090 a lot and didnt in anyway think it a slouch compared to the 1290. He prefered the front end feel and although the electronics of the 1290 meant he "took the piss", he did end up actually crashing it. The 1290, in any flavor, is simply not a SERIOUS offroad bike. To me. I'm putting a PowerParts skid plate on mine and I will put some tires on it that are somewhat offroad worthy - Shinko 705 or Mitas E-07 - and that will be adequate for the offroad usage I would put any 1290 to.
Comfort mode on the highway makes it a magic carpet, and Street mode is great for 90% of canyon carving. Once you're going at the 7/10 to 8/10 pace, the linkage-less PDS rear suspension is apparent. Luckily Sport mode makes it disappear for the most part. It really feels like a different bike in this mode.
