Vermiglio. The last village along the road from Trento to Passo del Tonale is Vermiglio, situated at 1.260 m a.s.l. It is formed by the three small villages of Cortina, Fraviano and Pizzano, which are now united in one locality. Between Vermiglio and Passo del Tonale there is the recently restored Forte Strino fortress located.

Passo Tonale and the Brenta Dolomites are the ideal place to learn the basics of Ski Touring (also know as Ski Mountaineering or Ski Randonée). Lots of terrain to learn how to ski off-piste, many valleys and summits to discover. The Alps are a ski touring paradise. The glacier offers 3 downhill tracks in a unique environment, served by artificial snow systems and 2 ski lift systems. The ski area is part of the vast Adamello Ski carousel that in turn is a part of the Skirama Dolomiti Adamello Brenta system. Framed between Sass Pordoi and Sass Becé, Pordoi Pass marks the border between the Province of Trento and the Province of Belluno. Located 12 km away from Canazei, it features as many as 28 hairpin bends. It is one of the 4 passes of the Strada delle Dolomiti (Dolomites Road), built in the beginning of the 20th century to link Bolzano with 5Lvg.
